Our History

Welcome to the Chamorro Valley Ranch web site of Joe and Mary Roberto. Our ranch is located in central Washington state, near the town of Ellensburg. We started raising goats in 1993. Our focus, at that time, was on the local goat meat market and our goal was to produce thick animals as quickly and as inexpensively as possible. We experimented with different goat breeds during the first few years of operation. In 1998, we introduced our first Boer buck to the herd and have stuck with Boers ever since.

Over the years, we have continued to upgrade our herd by introducing the best quality bucks and does we could afford, and by adhering to a strict culling process. (If an animal did not efficiently and quickly produce kids for market, it did not produce for very long on our farm.)

Because of the excellent genetics we have introduced, our focus is now on supplying quality full blood and purebred breeding stock. Our bloodlines include Ubora, Big 85, Pipeline, Mojo Magic, Renoir, Eggstreme, Sumo, Kaptein, Bodacious Simba, Hershey's Chocolate, and others. We do, however, still aggressively cull and strive to produce animals with lots of length, width and depth. For breeding purposes, we only keep the goats with excellent Boer characteristics.
